Ebook About DO DREAMS COME TRUE?Kirstin Magnusson is haunted by dreams of a fierce Viking warrior in a cage, being tortured and humiliated by his Saxon captors. Is it a fantasy, or a cry for help? But she’s a no-nonsense college professor, not a Navy SEAL like her brothers or a Norse fighting man, like her father once was. What can she do to help? Call on her academic training, of course, and form a plan....WHAT ABOUT NIGHTMARES?Once called Hauk the Handsome, Hauk Thorsson is far from it these days, having lived in a filthy Saxon cage for over six months. All because he allowed grief over the death of his son to distract him. However, Hauk has a plan to escape soon and join the approaching army of Sweyn Forkbeard…until that lackbrain woman arrives and causes nothing but trouble.BUT SOME DREAMS END HAPPILY EVER AFTER:All right, it depends on the definition of “ever after.” And mayhap it wasn’t the best idea for Hauk to kidnap Kirstin, but she’d said she needed time; so, he was just doing what she wanted, sort of.Book The Caged Viking: Viking Navy SEALs, Book 8 Review :
I had just discovered this series just as the previous book to this one came out, so I have been waiting a long time for the next one as so many books in other series came out instead. This is the first book of either the Viking I or the Viking II series that I have been disappointed in. I think the biggest shock was Kirstin Magnusson, the main character. She had always seemed, in previous books, to be a friendly, kind, lady. In this book, she seems very manly. I almost expected her to start swaggering and spitting. Her comments and thoughts sounded more like the Seals from previous books than a lady. It was like she had a totally different personality in this book. It also didn't make sense about the way she spoke and behaved when she went back to the past. She had lived close to half her life in that time period, yet you'd hardly know that from the way she behaved, her manner and way of speaking, and her impressions of life there. She seemed very much like someone who'd never been there before. One example is how awed she seemed to be and how she kept thinking she wished she could take photos of things and how seeing all of it would really help her dissertation (as if it was all new to her). There also didn't really seem to be much of a story to this one. The man got rescued pretty quickly, and then the later battle was over pretty quickly. Those two events could have been points of excitement or suspense, but weren't. Then, when they go to his home, we get a quick glossover of what his home looks like and life there. Then, before you know it, Kirstin is back in 2019. Then, she ends up back in time. They argue AGAIN. And that's it. Book over. There wasn't a whole lot of humor in this book. A lot of arguing. A LOT of sex scenes. I know there are in the other books too, but they had a really good story though too. This just seemed like filler to stretch out the book. I'm really not interested in a blow by blow account of where you put everybody part, etc. I ended up skipping over a lot of that. There were also a number of typos. Also, when did turkeys show up in medieval Norway? Turkeys come from North America! And, no, Leif Erickson or his dad, Erick the Red, never brought any back home from the new world! Overall, I'd give this book 3.5 stars. I'm looking forward to JAM's book though. Oh, and one more thing was a continuity issue. Madrene's first husband was NOT infertile, as Kirstin says in this book. That was discussed back in Madrene's story when she thought SHE was infertile when she and her first husband couldn't have kids and then he had kids with his second wife. So, why is Kirstin now saying he was infertile? He wasn't, and the family already knew that! I have read all the stories in this series and was glad the story featured several of the older characters within the storyline. While the story was good, I deducted a star as I felt there were too many sex scenes and after a while I just skimmed over them.
